  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning in healthcare June 16, 2021

    The School of Entrepreneurship and Management Studies (SEAMS), SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, introduces a series of academic webinars exclusively for its students of BBA and MBA. The first among the series, organised on the theme AI/ML in Healthcare, will be held on June 19, 2021, at 4.00 pm. Dr Shibasish Dasgupta, Associate Director – Statistics, Pfizer Health India Pvt. Ltd, will be the guest speaker of the webinar.

    Dr Dasgupta earned his PhD in Statistics from the University of Florida and is currently an adjunct professor of Data Science at Chennai Mathematical Institute. Speakers from industry and academia will be invited for every session of the webinar series to throw light on diverse topics. The webinar series aims at giving perspectives to students about the latest best practices in the field of Management.

  • Newsmakers: Vasika Venugopal and Gadupudi Gowtham on higher education abroad June 16, 2021

    Vasika Venugopal and Gadupudi Gowtham, 3rd-year BSc Biology students have achieved the extraordinary by securing admissions to prominent global universities. The Department of Student Affairs, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh invites them to “Newsmakers” on June 16, 2021, at 5.00 pm to have a conversation apropos of their journey to world-renowned universities.

    Ms Vasika Venugopal has been admitted to more than eight prestigious higher education institutions both within and outside India. She has decided to accept the admission offer from the University of Bordeaux in France for the Bordeaux International Masters in Neuroscience Program. According to her, this master’s programme offers a unique multidisciplinary and integrated training approach that encompasses all the main areas of brain research, from normal brain processes to brain diseases.

    Another inspiring student from the same department is Gowtham Gadupudi who has recently enrolled in The Life Science and Health-International Track master’s program at the University of Paris-Saclay in France. This research-driven multidisciplinary course nurtures research interests and can help in developing an individual’s research trajectory.

  • Invited lecture on technologies for connected vehicles June 15, 2021

    An invited lecture, “Technologies for Connected Vehicles”, will be organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, on June 19, 2021, at 11.00 am. In this online session, Dr Ramani Kalpathi, guest faculty at BITS Pilani, will give an introduction to intravehicle networks with a focus on CAN, LIN, Flexray, MOST, Ethernet, and Bluetooth networks introducing the frame formats, sample hardware implementation, and SAE formats.

    Dr Ramani Kalpathi is also the founder of Powersoft Systems and The ARM Academy. He earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, USA, and M.S in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras. The use of Wifi and IoT technologies and their presence for ubiquitous networks with typical samples of synchronous messages will be presented for connected technologies, during the lecture. Implementation of Electric vehicles and the need for continuous data monitoring for autonomous vehicles may also be discussed for the purpose of diagnostics and reliability.

    All interested B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD students from any university are welcome to join the lecture upon registration.

    Does ECE branch provide more opportunities than CSE branch?

    As ECE branch offers combine courses of both hardware and software fields leading to more job opportunities in private as well as government sector. In addition, it is easy for ECE graduates to establish their own start-ups.

    What is the Scope of ECE branch in government jobs?

    Yes, after clearing technical exams conducted by UPSC [IAS/IES] and PSUs [defence, railway, intelligence agency] ECE graduates can secure higher rank jobs in government sector. ECE is one of the four branches [Civil/EEE/MECH/ECE] eligible to write IES exam.

    Summer Internships are mandatory for third-year students. The previous year students have completed their internships from various reputed government sectors/Industries such as ECIL, SHAR Sriharikota, DRDO, BEL, BSNL, Geek technologies, Android dev. and Thermofisher.
