Internship at The New Indian Express
- Ms Bala Mallikamba and Ms Asritha Panditi, Second-year, BA (Hons.) in Liberal Arts
Completed a four-week internship at the Editorial Department of “The New Indian Express” at the Vijayawada Office.
- During the internship, they worked in diverse fields. They covered press meetings in Rainbow Children's Hospital, Deccan Queen in Pandit Nehru Bus Stand and physical education in post and pre-covid in government and private institutions. Working in diverse fields has given them immense knowledge and awareness. Professional space enabled them to build their professional communication skills and writing.
International Conference on “New Media and its Publics in India”
- The Department of Media Studies, ESLA, organized a two-day international seminar titled “New Media and its Publics in India” from April 18 to 19, 2024.
- The event brought together distinguished figures from both the media industry and academia. Among the notable speakers who delivered insightful and engaging talks were Abhinandan Sekhri (Newslaundry), Prof. Pramod Nayar (University of Hyderabad), Prof. Meheli Sen (Rutgers University), Prof. Ann Feldman (Northwestern University), Rahee Punyashloka (independent artist and filmmaker), Prof. Sambiah Gundimeda (KREA University), and Anuradha Nagaraj (Azim Premji University).
- The seminar also served as an intellectually stimulating platform for students and scholars from both the host institution and other universities. Over 50 research papers were presented, reflecting diverse perspectives and critical engagements with various aspects of media studies.
