The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, in collaboration with the Government Blood Center, Guntur Government Hospital, successfully conducted a blood donation camp on April 10, 2025. The event was formally inaugurated in the esteemed presence of the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Dean of Academic Affairs, and the Director of Student Affairs, who commended the NSS team for this life-saving initiative.

The camp operated from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, witnessing impressive participation from students, faculty, and staff members. A remarkable number of units of blood were collected during the event, a testament to the humanitarian spirit and social responsibility fostered within our university.

All donors underwent thorough health screenings conducted by medical personnel from the Government Blood Center to ensure eligibility based on factors like age, weight, haemoglobin levels, blood pressure, and general wellness. Strict hygiene and safety protocols were followed throughout the donation process.

The donors received Certificates of Appreciation from the Government Blood Centre, GGH Guntur, for their voluntary donations and splendid social service. Their participation reflected the selfless commitment that defined the camp’s success.

This initiative not only addressed critical healthcare needs but also served as a powerful reminder of the profound impact a single act of kindness can have on countless lives. Each donor who stepped forward embodied the spirit of service and solidarity that defines our university community. The overwhelming participation and enthusiasm reaffirmed the belief that even a small gesture when multiplied by many, can become a force of immense compassion and change.

The Film Gala 2025, organised by the CineMates Club of SRM AP, was inaugurated with a formal ceremony that marked a prestigious two-day celebration dedicated to the art of cinema, narrative excellence, and creative expression. This distinguished event established a professional forum for filmmakers, artists, and cinema enthusiasts from across the nation to participate in intellectual discourse, competitive showcases, and cultural exhibitions.

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of Mrs Tejaswi Podapati Macharapu, Chairperson of the AP State Creativity and Culture Commission, Government of Andhra Pradesh, who served as the Chief Guest. She was accompanied by Mr Sujith Kalluri, Chief Club Advisors, distinguished faculty members, Founders and Alumni of CineMates, and official representatives from the organising committee.

The keynote address by Chief Guest Mrs Tejaswi Podapati Macharapu constituted the ceremony’s centrepiece. She delivered a comprehensive discourse on cinema’s transformative role in contemporary society. Drawing from her academic experiences, she emphasised the importance of integrating creative pursuits with scholastic endeavours. Mrs Tejaswi noted that India maintains its position as the world’s foremost film-producing nation, with an annual output exceeding 2,000 cinematic productions, thereby presenting substantial opportunities for aspiring filmmakers. She further emphasised that students from diverse academic disciplines, including engineering, possess the analytical acumen and creative capabilities necessary for success in the film industry.

To reinforce her message, Mrs Tejaswi referenced distinguished individuals from various professional domains, including politics, athletics, and the arts, underscoring how perseverance and passion are fundamental elements of professional achievement. She concluded her address by expressing admiration for the Film Gala’s established legacy and commended SRM AP for its institutional commitment to advancing artistic initiatives.

The ceremony featured classical dance performances by Ms. Preeti and Ms. Deepthi, who demonstrated the artistic interpretation of narrative through choreographed movement, exemplifying the intersection of traditional cultural expression and contemporary storytelling techniques.

A significant component of the inauguration was the formal announcement of the 24-Hour Filmmaking and Editing Challenges. The Visual Chase competition specified that participants create a two-minute video exploring the theme “Nature Speaks to Me,” while the Classic Cut competition challenged contestants to produce a trailer for the film ‘Kalki 2898 A.D.,’ with a maximum duration of 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

The inaugural ceremony concluded with a comprehensive presentation of the day’s scheduled activities, including curated short film screenings, a poetry recitation session, and an evening film presentation. The enthusiastic participation from attendees signified the successful launch of Film Gala 2025, establishing an auspicious foundation for what promised to be an intellectually stimulating and culturally enriching festival.

The event received generous sponsorship from esteemed organisations including Sastri Balm, AWEC Consultancy, IVY Overseas, ATHER, Vastrakala Shopping Mall, Picxy, Harivillu Promoters and Developers Pvt. The four-day Techno-Cultural Fest, INFINITUS’25, from February 05-08, 2025,  has come to a showstopping end at SRM University-AP. An incredible lineup of artists featured on the final two days of INFINITUS’25, including renowned music composer-performer duo Salim-Sulaiman Merchant. The duo and their team enthralled the audience with their popular hits and electrifying performances, transforming the campus into a captivating concert where they showcased an unforgettable stage.

The cultural performances also included a stand-up comedy act by Hoody, mesmerizing songs by Ram Miryala and a final showdown by DJ Akram. The performing artists set the stage ablaze with their incredible zeal and talent, and the grounds of SRM University-AP became a platform for fun, creativity and enjoyment.

The techno fest, a central highlight of INFINITUS 2025, commenced with great enthusiasm and an immense exhibition of talent. The inaugural function witnessed Vice President of PowerTrain at Volvo Group, Mr Kishan Sreenath, as the Chief Guest along with Vice Chancellor, Prof. Manoj K Arora; Registrar, Dr R Premkumar; Director of Student Affairs, Mr Anil Kumar Nigam; Chief Club Advisor, Dr Sujith Kalluri; and Student Council President, Mr B V S Laksman.

Chief Guest Mr Kishan Sreenath commended the ethos behind INFINITUS ‘25. He also highlighted the importance of problem statements in hackathons and their crucial role in advancing technology. Mr Kishan stressed how platforms such as INFINITUS ‘25 foster collaboration among individuals with varying backgrounds, benefiting society.

The HACK SRM Challenge was the standout event among the technical events, with 22 hours of nonstop hacking, six tracks, a grand prize pool of ₹ 1 Lakh, and ₹75k worth of sidetracks. Some of the other technical competitions of the fest included FIFA, Valorant, BGMI, Bullet Echo, and Rapid UI, to name a few. Navacharak bagged the 1st prize, followed by Pinterest Gillies in the Hack SRM Challenge, winning prize money of 50k and 30k, respectively. The winners of the techno expo- Mahammad Hassain, Yella Reddy, Sai Kumar, and Charmi bagged the prize money of 10k.

The final day of the Techno-Cultural Fest also hosted the much-awaited Mr and Ms Fresher competition, where the brightest, most talented, and deserving candidates were chosen as the title winners. Mr Aashir, a first-year B.Tech. student, and Ms Pratyusha, a first-year M.Sc. student, were selected as Mr and Ms Fresher, respectively. Other cultural programmes included Tech Tales, Cyber Vogue, Cyber Sway, Cyber Tunes and Glitch Stage where participants put on exemplary performances and won spectacular prizes. INFINITUS’25, organised under the aegis of the Directorate of Student Affairs and the Student Council of the university, was a resounding success, a memorable experience celebrating innovation, talent and creativity./p>

In a commendable display of community spirit and dedication to saving lives, SRM University-AP hosted a Blood Donation Camp to honour World Blood Donor’s Day. Organised in collaboration with Guntur Medical College, the event marked a significant success and underscored the university’s steadfast commitment to societal welfare.

The camp’s inauguration was graced by Chief Guest Mr Venugopal Reddy, Collector of the Guntur Region. He was accompanied by Dr V Kiran Kumar, Chief Surgeon, and his team from the Government Blood Centre at Government General Hospital-Guntur, Dr R Premkumar, Registrar of SRM University-AP, and Ms Revathi Balakrishnan, Associate Director of Student Affairs, and other key dignitaries witnessed the inaugural ceremony.

In his opening address, Mr Venugopal Reddy stressed the crucial significance of blood donation, emphasising that “Blood is a vital component that cannot be artificially manufactured in laboratories.”

Registrar Dr Premkumar emphasised the importance of donating blood and highlighted that “donation continues to be the sole way to guarantee an ongoing supply of this life-saving elixir.” He stressed the significance of these camps in cultivating a culture of altruism and accountability within the university community.

The university enthusiastically participates in coordinating frequent blood donation drives to support the community and meet the demand for blood donations. The event also served as a platform to dispel myths surrounding blood donation, thereby encouraging broader participation. The students, faculty, and staff of SRM University-AP showed immense enthusiasm in donating blood, significantly contributing to the camp’s outstanding success.

Adding to the day’s significance, Dr Karthik Rajendran, Associate Dean-QAR, was honoured with the Lifesaver Award by the Indian Red Cross Society. This prestigious accolade was bestowed in recognition of his substantial contributions to blood donation and his unwavering commitment to saving lives.

It highlights the university’s unwavering commitment to making a positive societal impact and reinforces the importance of regular blood donation and community service.

The campus of SRM University-AP was abuzz with a palpable energy as the Directorate of Student Affairs hosted the electrifying “Mera Pahala Vote Desh ke Liye” (My First Vote for the Nation) initiative on March 07, 2024. In a powerful display of civic engagement, students rallied together to celebrate the essence of democracy and ignite the flame of active citizenship.

The event kicked off with a captivating video screening that transported attendees on a journey through India’s vibrant democratic tapestry. Stories of ordinary citizens whose votes reshaped destinies unfolded before their eyes, reminding them of the transformative power they wield with a single mark on the ballot.

As the last frame faded, a solemn hush fell upon the gathering, and a collective pledge echoed through the halls. Students’ voices, united in purpose, vowed to exercise their constitutional rights and make their voices heard in the democratic process. The atmosphere crackled with determination and a renewed sense of responsibility.

But the celebration didn’t stop there! In a burst of youthful enthusiasm, a dedicated selfie point sprung to life, capturing the infectious energy of the moment. Students eagerly posed, their smiles radiating pride and purpose as they immortalised their commitment to shaping the nation’s future.

SRM University-AP‘s commitment to nurturing responsible citizens was displayed as the institution partnered with the Election Commission of India to kindle the flame of democratic participation. With each selfie shared and pledge taken, a powerful message resounded: the future belongs to those actively shaping it.

As the event drew to a close, the campus hummed with a renewed sense of purpose, a collective awakening to the responsibilities and privileges of being citizens of the world’s largest democracy. The ‘Mera Pahala Vote Desh ke Liye’ initiative has undoubtedly left an indelible mark, igniting a fire within the hearts and minds of SRMites – a fire that will guide them as they navigate the intricate tapestry of India’s democratic journey.

 

The spirit of Christmas echoed through the halls of our campus this year as students, faculty, and staff came together to celebrate the festive season. The Christmas celebration organised by the Directorate of Student Affairs was a grand affair, with enthusiastic participation from key figures, including the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans of all schools, and dedicated faculty and staff.

The event saw an inclusive participation of international students, adding a global touch to the festivities. The diverse cultural backgrounds of the international students enriched the celebration, reflecting the unity in diversity that defines the academic community at SRM University-AP.

One of the highlights of the Christmas celebration was the active involvement of the university leadership. The Vice-Chancellor, with a radiant smile, inaugurated the event, setting a joyous tone for the entire gathering. The heart of the celebration was the involvement of both local and international students. The student affairs directorate organised a series of entertaining games and activities that brought everyone together. International students, showcasing their unique talents, not only participated actively but also emerged victorious in several competitions, winning well-deserved prizes.

 

Department of Student Affairs brings another exciting yet thought-provoking Car Designing Contest-2020 for the tech-savvy Generation-Z. An open challenge is given to the students to visualise their dream car and share it with the judges and the spectators. The competition is divided into three categories:
1. Sketch of your dream car.
2. Write up on your dream car.
3. Model of your dream car.

All the students from the first year to the fourth year can participate in the contest. They can project their dream car using a designing software or simple on paper. Moreover, if someone has a flair for writing, they are most welcome to express it through the medium of 100-150 finely crafted words.

As William Blake said,” What is now proved was only imagined”. Being a movie buff or literature enthusiast, you must have come across many high-tech, beautifully designed cars. BATMOBILE, Bond cars, The car in Kingsman movie, Hotwheels cars are some meagre examples of that. Even in Bollywood movies like “Dhoom 3”, we have seen BMW bikes which can change to a speedboat when required. It is now your time to show us how vividly and tactfully you can imagine a car like that. Let your imagination run wild and come up with something extraordinary. Add wings to your dreams and bring out the technical side of you into the open and charge your brains.

Announcement of the Winners: November 15, 2020

Department of Student Affairs, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh organizes yet another chapter of Newsmakers. On November 21, 2020, at 5 PM, Sourav Sanyal, Miran Junaidi, and Saurabh Ghanekar, 4th year, Department of Computer Science and Engineering will be narrating their tale of forming a start-up named oureye.ai. The young entrepreneurs developed an automated, end-to-end video intelligence solution for enterprises to monitor surveillance camera recordings, leveraging pre-existing CCTV-IP infrastructure.

The three brilliant students grabbed the opportunities provided by SRM AP and became an active member of the student-run technological club of SRM AP, Next Tech Lab. Further, they spent a semester at the University of California, Berkeley as part of the Semester Abroad Programme to broaden their horizon of knowledge. Encouraged by the mentors and faculty, the students participated in several international conferences and hackathons which kindled their interest in developing a platform that would provide practical solutions to real-life problems.

During the session, the students will share insights regarding their start-up. Also, they will narrate the inspiring journey that commenced with their erudite experience at SRM AP, which eventually enabled them to become young entrepreneurs. Their company generated a revenue of Rs. 1.7 million in the recent financial year.

The Newsmaker is back with another exciting chapter. This time on The Newsmaker, Dr Imran Pancha will be joining the students to share his perspective on research and academia. Dr Imran Pancha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. Recently, he has been recognised among the top 2% scientists across the world in the field of Biotechnology by the Stanford University Researchers. His research interest is primarily based on Microalgal and renewable energy. Join the enlightening session on November 28, 2020 at 5 pm to know more about the domain of Biotechnology and its future prospects.

Whereas you enjoy living amidst the fun and laughter of college life, on the other hand, some significant decisions are also to be made at this time. These decisions will shape your life, so you have to think sensibly. A person is full of limitless possibilities, and this is the proper time to judge yourself, know your strength and weave your future accordingly.

The Department of Student Affairs brings you this opportunity to know yourself better. “Choosing my career Path” is not only an event but a road map for the students to decide upon their career. During graduation, a student has a choice of applying for a job or opt for higher studies or take up entrepreneurship as one’s career. To understand the path best suited, that will bring satisfaction to the student, this program is designed to provide the students with the necessary food for thought. This is the guidance that every student needs before deciding upon the future.
