Invited talk on Cloud operations
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering along with IEEE Education Society Bangalore is organising an invited talk on the topic “Cloud Operations – Overview and Challenges” on June 26, 2021, from 7.00 pm to 8.00 pm. The guest speaker Mr Santosh Chachadi will give an overview of salient Cloud Operations activities of applications and highlight their challenges.
The Software-as-a-Service Cloud offering has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry; more and more customers adapting to this new paradigm of consuming business applications from the cloud which relieves the customers and their IT departments from the turmoil of maintaining large data centres, and maintenance of hardware and software. For service providers of such cloud applications, this would mean that they have to concentrate on the “operability” of such a solution in addition to providing all the competitive features, bells and whistles.
About the speaker:
Santosh Chachadi is an Electronics and Communications Engineer and an MBA. He has more than 21 years of experience working in the IT industry in various capacities. He currently works as the Cloud Operations Manager for SAP Business ByDesign, a cloud ERP system that caters to customers in the small/medium enterprise segment having anywhere between 50-500 users. 82nd IIRS-ISRO outreach programme in collaboration with SRM University-AP
Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS)- ISRO in Dehradun has been organising a series of outreach programmes in collaboration with SRM University-AP. The 82nd programme in the series is a five-day course on “Machine learning to Deep Learning: A journey for remote sensing data classification” which will be conducted from July 5-9, 2021. The sessions will be from 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm on all days.
Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) under Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Department of Space, Govt of India, is a premier Training and Educational Institute set up for developing trained professionals in the field of Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics and GNSS Technology for Natural Resources, Environmental and Disaster Management. The Institute has enhanced its capability through training and education programmes that are tuned to meet the requirements of various target groups, ranging from fresh graduates to policymakers including academia.
All the participants who attend 70% of sessions of the course live via eclass portal, and those participants who attend the course sessions via the IIRS youtube channel and mark their attendance via offline session available after 24 hrs will be awarded participation certificates.

Dr K Kasturirangan expounds the nuances of NEP-2020
The eleventh edition of the University Distinguished Lecture Series in SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, is scheduled to be held on July 24, 2021, Saturday, at 11.00 am. Padma Vibhushan awardee Dr K Kasturirangan, Chairman, National Education Policy-2020 (NEP), will deliver the virtual lecture as the chief guest. Dr Audimulapu Suresh, minister of education in the government of Andhra Pradesh, will also join the esteemed lecture.
In the lecture titled “Creating a Vibrant Knowledge Society – An Indian Strategy for 21st Century”, Dr Kasturirangan will explicate the nuances underlying the conceptualisation of National Education Policy 2020. Being the first education policy of the 21st century, NEP 2020 proposes to address the many growing developmental imperatives of our country. This policy aims to revise and revamp all aspects of the education structure, including its regulation and governance, and create a new system that is aligned with the aspirational goals of 21st-century education while building upon India’s traditions and value systems.

Kasturirangan is currently Chancellor, Central University of Rajasthan; Chairman, Governing Board, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA); Chairperson, NIIT University, Neemrana; Member, Atomic Energy Commission, Emeritus Professor at National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangalore and Honorary Distinguished Advisor, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Panel session: Research opportunities in ECE
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) organises a panel session on “Research Opportunities in ECE” to discuss the prospective research areas that a graduate from SRM University-AP can ingress into. The session will be moderated by Dr Anuj Deshpande, Assistant Professor from the department on July 3, 2021, at 6.00 pm.

The Newsmakers: Saptarshi and Rajarshi Mazumder brothers
SRM University-AP is extremely proud to announce the accomplishments of the Saptarshi and Rajarshi Mazumder brothers, two magnificent Computer Science Engineering graduates from the Maiden Batch-2017. The duo bagged jobs at Japan’s PVP Inc., a strategic partner of Google Japan, with a whopping 50 LPA salary packages each, making the achievement the highest salary package amongst the 96 per cent of students who secured placements in the campus recruitment drive. The Department of Students’ Affairs has invited Saptarshi and Rajarshi to the upcoming segment of “The Newsmakers” on July 03, 2021, at 5:30 pm., where they will share their journey from SRM University-AP to a top-tier global organisation.
Japan’s PVP Inc. is a strategic partner of Google, which is one of the world’s largest search engine providers. It offers products and services that enable the creation of new businesses. It is the first time that students from a private university in India have received a 50-lakh rupee salary package. Both Saptarshi and Rajarshi, the twin brothers, have set an example by bagging equal salary packages from the same organisation.
