Understanding digital nudges can help you become a better decision-maker!
The Department of Psychology, SRM University – AP, organizes a Psychology for All: Lecture Series to introduce us to the nuances of human psychology. The first of this online lecture series will be hosted on the theme Digital Nudges, on June 18, 2021, at 4.00 pm. Cognitive Scientist and Decision Researcher, Dr Sumitava Mukherjee, from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi, will be the guest speaker of the lecture.
Digital technologies are being largely used in our private and professional lives and we are forced to make decisions based on the choices available on our screens. Digital nudging is defined as the use of user-interface design elements to guide people’s behaviour in digital choice environments. Dr Mukherjee studies cognition with a major focus on human judgment and decision making. His current work focuses on how humans perceive, judge, and decide within the realms of interactions with digital technology and algorithms. He also attends to consulting and collaborative queries related to consumer research on (digital) technology interactions, usage and adoption.

Invited lecture on technologies for connected vehicles
An invited lecture, “Technologies for Connected Vehicles”, will be organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, on June 19, 2021, at 11.00 am. In this online session, Dr Ramani Kalpathi, guest faculty at BITS Pilani, will give an introduction to intravehicle networks with a focus on CAN, LIN, Flexray, MOST, Ethernet, and Bluetooth networks introducing the frame formats, sample hardware implementation, and SAE formats.
Dr Ramani Kalpathi is also the founder of Powersoft Systems and The ARM Academy. He earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, USA, and M.S in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras. The use of Wifi and IoT technologies and their presence for ubiquitous networks with typical samples of synchronous messages will be presented for connected technologies, during the lecture. Implementation of Electric vehicles and the need for continuous data monitoring for autonomous vehicles may also be discussed for the purpose of diagnostics and reliability.

Newsmakers: Vasika Venugopal and Gadupudi Gowtham on higher education abroad
Vasika Venugopal and Gadupudi Gowtham, 3rd-year BSc Biology students have achieved the extraordinary by securing admissions to prominent global universities. The Department of Student Affairs, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh invites them to “Newsmakers” on June 16, 2021, at 5.00 pm to have a conversation apropos of their journey to world-renowned universities.
Ms Vasika Venugopal has been admitted to more than eight prestigious higher education institutions both within and outside India. She has decided to accept the admission offer from the University of Bordeaux in France for the Bordeaux International Masters in Neuroscience Program. According to her, this master’s programme offers a unique multidisciplinary and integrated training approach that encompasses all the main areas of brain research, from normal brain processes to brain diseases.
Another inspiring student from the same department is Gowtham Gadupudi who has recently enrolled in The Life Science and Health-International Track master’s program at the University of Paris-Saclay in France. This research-driven multidisciplinary course nurtures research interests and can help in developing an individual’s research trajectory.

An Informative Webinar on Choosing BSc (Hons) Integrative Biology at SRM-AP and its Prospective Career Options
SRM University-AP has begun a series of Webinars to introduce its departments and courses to aspiring applicants of the undergraduate degree programmes. Different departments are presenting interactive sessions to provide an overview of their respective courses and additional resources that SRM University-AP students have access to during their academic years. The Department of Biological Sciences hosts a similar seminar to enlighten enthusiastic students with an overview of the BSc (Hons) in Integrative Biology and the career options associated with it. Prof Jayaseelan Murugaiyan, Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, will educate the audience with an in-depth discussion on the subject and why it will be beneficial to pursue the BSc in Integrative Biology from SRM University-AP. The session is on July 1, 2021, at 4:00 p.m.

Prof Jayaseelan Murugaiyan is a senior scientist and subject matter expert who previously worked as the Scientist & Group Leader (Proteomics) at the Institute of Animal Hygiene and Environmental Health, Center for Infectious Medicine, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. He taught at many national institutes and an international institute, Germany’s Freie Universitaet-Dhalem Berlin’s Research School of Biomedical Sciences. To introduce emerging technologies and burgeoning fields of innovation, the Department of Corporate Relations and Career Services (CR&CS) has been organising a series of industry readiness webinars from time to time. The eighteenth session of this webinar series, titled “The Future of Technologies” will be held on June 19, 2021, Saturday, at 5:30 pm. Steps towards mastering oneself on International Yoga Day
People across the world are celebrating the seventh international day of Yoga on the theme “Yoga for well-being”. As the celebration has been scaled down due to the pandemic, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh is celebrating the day by conducting a virtual talk on “Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga-Steps Towards Mastering Oneself” on June 21, 2021, at 5.00 pm.
Prof Vajja Sambasiva Rao, Vice-Chancellor, and Prof D Narayana Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor SRM University-AP will address the virtual gathering. The Heartfulness Centre at Vijayawada collaborates with our university to observe the day with lectures and yoga sessions from Dr K Tirupati Rao, Sri Srinivasa Rao (Trainers), and Ms Harshada Kulkarni, Visiting Faculty at IDEA, SRM University-AP.
The International Yoga Day was first proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a speech to the United Nations and has been observed worldwide every year since June 21, 2015, to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of yoga for health. In this unprecedented times of Covid-19, incorporating yoga into one’s routine is beneficial. Yoga is believed to be effective for the psycho-social care and rehabilitation of Covid-19 patients in quarantine and isolation. The programme aims to enlighten the students about the different yoga postures and the virtues of meditation.
