“ECE in industry” – Talk Series 02
In collaboration with the Department of Corporate Relations & Career Services, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh introduces “ECE in industry” programme, which will comprise of a series of talks by eminent industry experts. The next instalment of the series brings Mr R. Prabakaran, General Manager- Learning and Development, Rane Holdings Limited, Chennai on September 26th, 2020, at 9.30 a.m. Mr Prabakaran will be delivering a talk on “Opportunities and Skills Required for ECE Students”.
Mr Prabakaran has three decades of experience in the industry. He began his career as a Deputy Manager in NTTF Technical Training Centre. Later he has worked for reputed companies such as MM Forgings, Lucas TVS Ltd etc. He was responsible for the skill-building and generating various learning and developing initiatives in metal forming and CNC Machining. He oversaw skill and competency assessment and development across all levels and design ACT., along with working on Total Quality Management. In his present company, he supervises learning and development interventions across Rane Group of Companies pan India. Designing, Planning Resources and Executing leadership and manufacturing capabilities initiatives are some of his primary obligations. It is his vast experience of three decades of successful grooming and developing skills that he will be sharing with the students. Mr Ramesh Loganathan is to motivate students in an engaging session
SRM University-AP always strives to inspire and motivate the students in every means possible. The transition from school to college life will have a significant impact on the lives of the students. During the Orientation Programme for the Freshmen-2020, our eminent guests are trying to invigorate students by sharing their experience and philosophy of life. Our guest for today, Mr Ramesh Loganathan is a multifaceted personality who is currently appointed as the Professor of Co-Innovation at IIIT-Hyderabad. He heads the Research/Innovation outreach at IIIT-Hyderabad. He also is the Chief Operating Officer of Centre For Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at IIIT-Hyderabad. Previously, he has served as an advisory of Government of Telangana as the Chief Innovation Officer of the State Innovation Cell. Mr Ramesh brings with him almost 25+ years of vast executive leadership experience with a successful track record in running multi-million dollar companies. Moreover, he provided strategic guidance to the teams with a focus on cross-product consideration for SOA & Data Integration. He also Co-founded HeadStart Network, a volunteer organization that helped to build an early-stage startup eco-system in Hyderabad and pan India. Needless to say that he has devised many formula and strategy to innovate and promote new ideas and technology.

Ms Anita Sakuru is to motivate students with her experience as entrepreneur and innovator
As a part of the Orientation Programme-2020, Ms Anita Sakuru will grace us with her presence on September 28, 2020, at 10.45 am. Ms Sakuru is best known for her entrepreneurship and innovation. She was the co-founder of Pragma Inc, an IT consulting firm founded in 1995. Anita served as an Executive Vice President for Kenexa and was instrumental in the IT transformation of the company. She has produced and judged a startup show on TV5 names STartup Junction. The graduate of BITS, Pilani and MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Chicago, Ms Sakuru, is currently a chapter head for 50k ventures, a network that funds startups. She has started several companies and is on the board of a few of them. Join the session to experience a stimulating conversation with her on September 28 at 10.45 am.

SRM AP’s Ennovab organizes an event in Hacktoberfest 2020
SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh’s student-run Ennovab, an Entrepreneurship hub, is organizing an event on October 2: “Hacktoberfest 2020. ” During the event, the participants will be introduced to open source, GitHub, open-source collaboration, and open-source projects. An array of workshops and talks by prominent personalities from various industries is also arranged.
The Hacktoberfest 2020 is a month-long celebration of open source software run by Digital Ocean. It encourages participation in the open-source community, which grows bigger every year. Hacktoberfest 2019 has completed 61,871 challenges and had 483,127 pull requests opened. They also had 154,767 participating repositories from companies such as Intel, Circle CI, Vonage, Indeed, Progate, Freshworks, Cloudflare, Gitcoin, etc.
Students of SRM AP come from different backgrounds with a variety of skills. Hacktoberfest is a great resource for them to increase their participation in open source projects from technology and engineering companies, which advises young and talented students to contribute to the open-source repositories.

Dr T H Chowdary (Padma Shri awardee) to discuss “Mahatma Gandhiji’s Successes and Failures”
SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh unifies to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti by inviting Dr T H Chowdary (Padma Shri awardee) to deliver an inspiring speech. He has been requested to explore “Mahatma Gandhiji’s Successes and Failures” during the webinar. Dr Chowdary is the Director of Center for Telecom Management and Studies, Hyderabad, along with being the Chairman of Pragna Bharati, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh. Further, he is the Convener of Bharatiya Dharma Rakshana Samakhya. A fellow of Tata Consultancy Services, Dr Chowdary has founded CMD, VSNL, and was the IT Advisor of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. His gamut of experience makes him the embodiment of knowledge who has been continuously contributing to the development of India. “Is Gandhi still relevant in the 21st century?”- Students of SRM AP debate
SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh invites all the students to participate in the debate “Is Gandhi still relevant in the 21st century?” on October 2, 2020, at 4 p.m. The teachings of Gandhiji is pertinent to the youth of India in the 21st century, guiding them to accomplish their goals, and encouraging them to pursue the path of compassion and kindness. The other notion might be that with the rapidly changing dynamics of the world, and the development of global networks in the modern age, Gandhiji’s philosophy loses its relevance to the youth. On Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, students of SRM AP are urged to discuss and explore the ideologies of Gandhiji and their relevance in the 21st century.
72nd Outreach Programme of IIRS-ISRO on “Basics of Geocomputation and Geoweb Services”
Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) -Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) presents 72nd outreach programme titled “Basics of Geocomputation and Geoweb Services”, which can be availed by the students of SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh.
Geocomputation is an emerging field that uses computational techniques such as neural networks, heuristic search, and cellular automata, for spatial data analysis. It is evolving as an essential scientific realm that encompasses techniques of geographical information systems, neurocomputing, heuristic search and cellular automata.
Students of SRM AP are recommended to participate in this immensely beneficial programme from October 19, 2020 till October 29, 2020. During the programme, attendees will be introduced to Geocomputation – technology and applications, online GIS and geo-web services, open geodata repositories, and ISRO geoweb services for thematic applications, programming concepts for geo-computation, introduction to Python and R, and much more.

Department of Student Affairs organize “An insight to AIESEC”
Department of Student Affairs organize “An insight to AIESEC” Department of Student Affairs, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh has organized a webinar, where Aaditya Jain, Fourth Year, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Business Unit Head: AIESEC in Amaravati, will be hosting a session on “An insight to AIESEC”. As the world’s largest youth-run organization present in over 125 countries, International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences (AIESEC) provides cross-cultural global internships and volunteer exchange programmes to the youth. 6 students of SRM AP have successfully completed their internships through AIESEC in Greece, Egypt, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam to work on Website Development, IT, Business and Marketing, Explore, and Mechanical Projects. Students of SRM AP are encouraged to join the session on October 10, 2020, at 5 p.m. to know more about the internship programmes that would assist them to emerge as global professionals.
Dr Smita Sharma to deliver a session on “ Understanding Mental Health and Strengthening Well-Being ”
Department of Student Affairs, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh has requested Dr Smita Sharma, Student Counselor, SRM AP, to deliver a session on ‘Understanding Mental Health and Strengthening Well-Being’ on “World Mental Health Day” – October 10, 2020, at 4 p.m. The widespread perception of mental illness is associated with stigma, largely due to lack of awareness. Also, not addressing the mental health issues may lead to anxiety disorders, and mood disorders. Dr Smita will take the audience through the lecture session, which would enable the students to help themselves and the people around them to overcome the overwhelming situation.

Interactive session with Ms Krittika who secured dream job offer from Google
Ms Krittika, a brilliant student of the SRM Family, secured her dream job with Google. As a Campaign Manager, she develops digital solutions for Google that build and promote its businesses and brands. Her book of business includes large clients based out of the US market. Prior to Google, Krittika was working as a Technology Consultant with Cognizant Business Solutions, where she crafted digital strategies for retail clients like Walmart.
Krittika found her passion for Information Technology while pursuing her engineering degree from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. She strengthened her professional skills even further with an MBA, majoring in Marketing, from IIM Shillong.
Her passion for marketing and the urge to touch and transform lives with the boon of technology helped her in securing a place with Google. Today, she lives in Hyderabad, and finds delight in baking or trying out new recipes in her leisures.
Ms Krittika will be joining you today, October 10, 2020, to share her journey from being a freshman at SRMIST to being transformed into a Professional with support and guidance from her teachers and mentors.
