The Teaching Learning Centre and SRM University-AP held an insightful Panel Discussion on April 04, 2025, under the Year of Innovation in Teaching and Learning initiative. The esteemed panellists included Prof. Vishnupad, Dean ESLA, Prof. Bharadhwaj Sivakumaran, Dean PSB, and Prof. Jayaseelan Murugaiyan, Associate Dean SEAS. The panel was moderated by Prof. Aveek Majumdar, Department of Management, and Dr Anirban Bose, Department of Mathematics.
The discussion focused on how student engagement in classrooms can be enhanced by bridging the gaps in the present teaching methods. Ideas such as integrating experiential, project-based, and tech-driven learning and using AI for co-creation and collaborative learning were explored. The need to evolve pedological approaches to meet the needs of modern-day learners was deliberated on.
The discussion also focused on practical strategies that can be used to enhance the engagement and effectiveness of the content that is taught, such as the use of AI to transform the teaching and learning experience. A learner-centered approach and an inclusive environment for better participation were emphasised. Importance was also laid on the vital need to encourage students to build their book reading habits that would contribute better to their academic growth and knowledge.
The discussion ended with over 30 faculty members participating in an active interaction and a doubt-clearing session. The discussion showed the shared commitment among the participants to pave a path to more enriching and engaging classroom experiences.
