From the HoD's Desk

ugen (2)Greetings!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Media Studies at the Easwari School of Liberal Arts (ESLA), SRM University-AP, Amaravati. Our department is a lively and forward-looking space that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and innovation. Here, students are encouraged to explore, express, and enhance their creative potential through the powerful medium of media.

At the heart of our department is an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach. We motivate students to go beyond traditional boundaries, experiment with ideas, and engage with media in its many forms — be it journalism, film, digital content, visual storytelling, or communication studies. This approach helps students develop both critical understanding and creative skills to better appreciate and influence the media-driven world we live in.

Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to foster originality and innovation. It offers hands-on learning, project-based activities, and real-world exposure. This equips students with the confidence and skills to tell compelling stories, analyse media trends, and create impactful content. Students work closely with faculty and peers through media labs, film screenings, design projects, and research activities. For detailed information on curriculum and syllabus, kindly visit the ‘Academics’ section at the top of this page.

Our faculty members come from varied professional and academic backgrounds, including journalism, film, communication, digital media, and visual culture, offering a rich learning environment. We believe in guiding students as they develop their own voice and vision, preparing them for successful careers in media, communication, and related fields worldwide. To know more about our highly qualified and experienced faculty, please visit the ‘People’ section on our website.

The four-year degree programme also includes a Capstone Project in the final year, where students undertake in-depth creative or research-based work. This strengthens their portfolio and supports their ambitions for higher studies and careers in premier global institutions and industries.

Learning at the Department of Media Studies goes well beyond classrooms. From interactive lectures using modern technologies to fieldwork, internships, and workshops with media professionals, we provide students the freedom, support, and resources to experiment, learn, and grow.

We invite you to be part of this exciting journey where creativity meets critical inquiry, and where your voice will find the space and encouragement it needs to make a meaningful impact.
